INSPIRE: Create 3d motion-captured animations using only a video clip!

We like to move it, move it!

Only a few short years ago you found us clad in bodysuits with highly reflective ‘balls’ attached to our person! Motion capture technology continues to move on in leaps and bounds, to the point where 3d motion can now be interpolated by AI from only a single video clip uploaded to a browser interface…

Kinetix is currently in ‘advanced beta’. Here’s what you can do with a free account…

Select a demo video clip of a person moving or dancing (or upload your own). We’ve chosen their supplied skateboarder. Play the video timeline and watch as the model mirrors the movement of the person in the video…

Next, select a built-in character or upload your own. We’ve selected ‘Mousey’…

Review the animation…

…and export it, ready for use in 3d modelling software or your favourite game engine:

There’s a lot more you can do than this – You can add 3d props to the scene as well as editing the animation to tidy it up.

Hey, Macarena!

For our own quick test, we grabbed a short clip from the Los Del Rio ‘classic’, MACARENA, from 1996 and imported it. First, you’re asked to trim and crop the video as needed…

Our resulting 10 second clip took around 3 minutes for the site to ‘process’…

…and here’s built-in character ‘Timmy’ doing his Macarena thing!

This is incredibly impressive for a workflow totalling less than 10 minutes! We’re looking forward to seeing how the site develops 🙂
